Mulholland Fountain
In 2014, in the midst of the multi-year-long drought in Southern California, Niemetz references several interconnected circumstances surrounding the drinking water supply in Los Angeles in this installation; such as the economic-driven operations of William Mulholland–who built infrastructures to provide water supplies that allowed LA to grow into the sprawling sub-urban landscape it is today–and Nestlé’s Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water Scandal, both of which lead to fatal environmental consequences.
